Habitual sleeplessness or inability to sleep
Insomnia can occur at any age but is very common in the elderly. Insomnia can be short term (up to 3 weeks) or long term (above 3-4 weeks). Insomnia can lead to memory problems, depression, irritability and an increased risk of heart disease and accidents.
Prolonged sleep disturbances can have a detrimental effect on many health conditions.
